Day 12 - Glacier National Park to Gardiner, MT

I started early today to try to get to Yellowstone before all the campgrounds were full. Easier said than done. I made it to Yellowstone about 4:15 this afternoon, but every campsite in the park was already taken. So I backtracked a few miles to Gardiner, MT. Here was today's route:

It was a pretty drive, but without many places to pull over to take good pictures. One thing that is striking when driving across the West is the decimation caused by pine beetles.

After gassing up in Livingston, MT, this is the sight I was presented with. That's where I was going: Yellowstone! Alas, it was not to be, not today anyway.

Although, I did enter the park (just barely). This is the Federal courthouse in the park.

I'm currently sitting in the Silver Tip in Gardiner, MT, where their delicious burrito and free wifi have made me feel at home.

Tomorrow, I enter the park. Pictures to follow.
